Call us today at 510-490-2187. Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation HistoryThe 1336 series of VFD variable frequency drives is a product of Rockwell Automation under the Allen Bradley name. The company was established in 1903 as the Compression Rheostat Company. By 1909 it had been renamed as the Allen-Bradley Company. In 1923 Allen Bradley adopted its octagon logo as the company trademark. In 1985, the company that had steadily expanded and flourished while continuing to offer rheostat, electrical and control products, was purchased by Rockwell International. Rockwell, itself was the product of a bifurcated path starting with North American Aviation (est. in the 1920s to take advantage of the fledgling aviation market) and Rockwell (est. in 1919 as a truck axle manufacturer.) North American had a rather glittering path that took it through many intervening steps and connection with big names and big projects, which included the Apollo space program. Though perhaps more mundane, Rockwell had made a success primarily in production of vehicle parts and industrial machinery. This put Rockwell in a position to acquire North American. Continued expansion in subsequent decades moved the company into the international arena and an expanding product inventory through several acquisitions, mergers and innovations. Legacy 1336 VFDsThe following variety of vfd drives are legacy items and are therefore only available from existing stocks. Parts for 1336 VFDs are available under the same circumstances. VFD repair will be determined on what parts and supplies, either OEM or third party, can be had that will properly bring the drive up to and within safe and efficient specs. So long as entire 1336 VFDs are still in stock there is a definite advantage in many cases in purchasing a legacy VFD. Mainly, they do not require any adjustment of mounting spaces, connections or compatibility with remaining parts of the system they will be fitted into. Though it is often desirable to update when there is a chance, when extra cost and labor will be incurred it may be logical to do a direct replacement of a 1336 VFD. A more extensive update for the entire installation can be planned for a more opportune time in the future. This strategy will often save in repair, replacement and/or time and labor expenses. Production losses can be avoided. It can be very critical when production has been stopped for the sake of handling a defunct mechanism.
